Stirling Moss, in full Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss, (born September 17, 1929, London, England—died April 12, 2020, London), British Formula One Grand Prix racing driver who was thought of by many to have been the best driver who by no means received a world championship.
Moss received his first occasion in 1950 in England and went on to win scores of races, together with the British Grand Prix (twice) and the Monaco Grand Prix (3 times). In all he received 16 Grand Prix occasions earlier than an accident in 1962 ended his profession. Moss was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1990 and was knighted in 2000.
