हिन्दी अनुवाद- कबीर एक महान कवि तथा सन्त थे जो भारत में सैकड़ों वर्ष पहले रहते थे। उन्होंने लोगों को एक-दूसरे के साथ प्यार करने की शिक्षा दी। वे भगवान का गुणगान करते हुए एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर गए। वर्ष गुज़रते गए और कबीर और ज्यादा वृद्ध होते गए। तब तक उनके हजारों अनुयायी बन गए थे। । कबीर के गीत तथा कविताएँ हमें बताती हैं कि ईश्वर सब जगह (सर्वव्यापी) है। उनके लेखों से यह स्पष्ट होता है कि वे एक सच्चे संत थे। उनके कुछ दोहे यहाँ दिए गए हैं जिनसे पता चलता है कि वे एक सच्चे विचारक और समाज सुधारक थे।

ऐसी बानी बोलिए मन का आपा खोय।।
औरन को सीतल करे आपहु सीतल होय।।
कबीरा खड़ा बाजार में सबकी माँगे खैर।
ना काहू से दोस्ती न काहू से बैर।।

कबीर ने सबको भगवान से प्यार करने को कहा। वे हमेशा कहते थे, “कबीर अल्लाह और राम का पुत्र है।” परन्तु लोगों को यह बात पसन्द नहीं आई। वे उन्हें सम्राट के पास ले गए। सम्राट ने लोगों की शिकायत सुनी और अपने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया, “इस आदमी को नदी में फेंक दो।” सैनिकों ने कबीर को नदी में फेंक दिया। परन्तु वे नहीं डूबे।।

हिन्दी अनुवाद- अगली बार उन्होंने कबीर को एक झोपड़ी में बन्द करके आग लगा दी। झोपड़ी जल गई परन्तु कबीर सुरक्षित रहे।

अन्त में उन्होंने उन्हें एक पागल हाथी के आगे डाल दिया। परन्तु कबीर को मारे बिना वह हाथी वहाँ से भाग गया। कई बार हारकर सम्राट ने कबीर को स्वतंत्र कर दिया।

जब कबीर की सहज मृत्यु हुई, उनके अनुयायी आपस में लड़ने लगे। मुसलमान उनके शरीर को दफनाना चाहते थे और हिन्दू उनके शरीर को जलाना चाहते थे। अचानक हिंदू और मुसलमानों को आसमान से एक आवाज़ सुनाई दी। वह कबीर की आवाज़ थी।

“मेरे शरीर से चादर हटाओ।” जब उन्होंने चादर हटाई वहाँ कबीर का शरीर नहीं था। उनके स्थान पर उन्हें केवल कुछ फूल मिले। इसलिए आधे फूल मुसलमानों ने लिए और आधे हिन्दुओं नें।
